MInstructor: Barry BachenheimerLocation: Montclair State University, U
niversity Hall- ADP Center, Room 1143\r\nStudents learn best when they
enjoy learning. The objective of this workshop is for teachers in all
subject areas to develop ways to use comedic and dramatic improvisati
on in their lessons. The idea is to reveal through the improv what the
y know about the characters (real or abstract) to the class... and als
o to start a class discussion on the subject.\r\nThe objectives of thi
s course are to discover the fundamentals of improvisational comedy, i
mprove your storytelling skills, learn techniques to think quickly on
your feet and to be more creative. This spirited, fun course is for an
yone who wants to learn the essentials of good scenic improvisation or
anyone who wants to improve their teamwork or communication skills. D
iscover how to actively listen, to use your own life to create stories
, and work on the fundamental principles of improvisation. Through coa
ching, warm-up exercises, creative performance games and basic short-f
orm scene-work, you will learn how to be more spontaneous, trusting an
d cooperative and how to listen in a fun, creative atmosphere. We will
also draw from viewing professional improv media such as “Whose Lin
e is It Anyway” and other shows. Teachers will also develop ideas fo
r improvisations to be used in their own classes, and try them out wit
h their colleagues during the workshop.\r\nThis workshop is appropriat
e for all levels and subjects, K-12. Based upon the presentation, part
icipants can adapt and adjust their own lessons.\r\nTO REGISTER, PLEAS
