SUMMARY:Culturally Responsive Teaching: Examining Class, Race, and Gen

DESCRIPTION:Together we will explore the concepts and techniques of cu
 lturally responsive classroom practices. Through hands-on activities a
 nd inquiry, teachers will acquire strategies for addressing issues con
 cerning class, race and gender in the classroom. Projects may include 
 the Equality Mobile, Dialogue Groups, Silent Conversations, Gallery Wr
 iting and the Circle of Power. Philosophy on culturally responsive tea
 ching will be drawn from expert sources in the field including Lisa De
 lpit, Peggy McIntosh, Beverly Daniel Tatum, Bill Ayers, and others. *F
 ulfills the MSUNER requirement for Culturally Responsive Teaching.\n\n
 Culturally Responsive Teaching is a two session mini course. The cours
 e will meet on March 18 and 25, 2010, 4:00 to 7:00 pm.\n\nYou must att
 end both sessions in their entirety to receive professional developmen
 t hours from the MSUNER.\n\nRegistration for this course is closed.\n\
 nThe mini course, Exploring Issues of Diversity, also meets the MSUNER
  requirement for Culturally Responsive Teaching. This course meets on
