mprov Comedy in the Classroom  DATE: April 30, 2015 TIME: 3:45-6:45 P
M LOCATION: Montclair State University, Student Center- Room 417\nINST
RUCTOR: Dr. Barry Bachenheimer\nStudents learn best when they enjoy le
arning. The objective of this workshop is for teachers in all subject
areas to develop ways to use comedic and dramatic improvisation in the
ir lessons. The idea is to reveal through the improv what they know ab
out the characters (real or abstract) to the class... and also to star
t a class discussion on the subject.\nThe objectives of this course ar
e to discover the fundamentals of improvisational comedy, improve your
storytelling skills, learn techniques to think quickly on your feet a
nd to be more creative. This spirited, fun course is for anyone who wa
nts to learn the essentials of good scenic improvisation or anyone who
wants to improve their teamwork or communication skills. Discover how
to actively listen, to use your own life to create stories, and work
on the fundamental principles of improvisation. Through coaching, warm
-up exercises, creative performance games and basic short-form scene-w
ork, you will learn how to be more spontaneous, trusting and cooperati
ve and how to listen in a fun, creative atmosphere. We will also draw
from viewing professional improv media such as “Whose Line is It Any
way” and other shows. Teachers will also develop ideas for improvisa
tions to be used in their own classes, and try them out with their col
leagues during the workshop.\nThis workshop is appropriate for all lev
els and subjects, K-12. Based upon the presentation, participants can
adapt and adjust their own lessons.\nTo Register, Please Click HERE\n
