Event Description

TITLE: Introduction to Sketchnotes: Bringing Out Your (and your Student's) Inner Artist to Better Record and Retain Information
DATE: October 28, 2019
TIME: 4:00 - 7:00 PM
INSTRUCTORS: Dr. Barry Bachenheimer
LOCATION: Montclair State University - ADP Center - Room 1120

Drawing on the work of educator Nicole Carter, this course will teach participants the basics of sketchnoting. Sketchnotes is a mix of words, colors, and images that can help students retain new material, develop skills to articulate empathy and build connections to larger concepts. This is a hands-on class so bring pens, colored pencils, highlighters, and a notebook or note paper. All students can benefit from Sketchnoting, however, students with various learning disabilities might find this to be especially helpful for ways to use multi-modal reinforcement techniques. The course is appropriate for all educators in all subjects, K-12.
