  indicates that the quality of the classroom teacher is the single mos
 t important ingredient for student learning. Standards-based mentoring
  provides the support new teachers need to become highly skilled, comm
 itted, and caring professionals. The MSUNER Mentor Institute will prov
 ide mentors with the tools to succeed in mentoring teachers during the
  provisional year.\n\nInstitute topics include:\nGuiding Principles of
  Induction\nRole of the Mentor\nNew Jersey Professional Standards for 
 Teachers\nFive Phases of First Year Teaching\nSupport and Assessment S
 trategies\nMentoring Conversation Protocol\nFeedback and Conferencing:
  A Reflective Model\nStrategic Coaching Conversations\nObservation: Da
 ta Collection Tools and Analysis of Data\n\n*The topics covered in the
  Institute are aligned with the NJ Professional Development Standards 
 and Professional Standards for Teachers. Professional development hour
 s and a certificate of completion for the training will be provided to
  participants who complete the program in its entirety.\n\nThe Mentor 
 Institute is recommended for teachers who are or will be mentors for f
 irst year teachers in the fall and administrators interested in enhanc
 ing their district's mentoring program.\n\nCost of the Institute:\n(In
 cludes breakfast, lunch, and parking in the Red Hawk deck for both day
 s)\n\nMSUNER member districts:\n$125.00 per individual participant or\
 n$300.00 for a team of three\n**for MSUNER districts sending teams of 
 3 or more, a fall workshop is provided in-district for participating m
 entors and their mentees at no additional cost.\n\nNon-MSUNER district
