TITLE: Teaching for Critical Thinking

This mini-course is designed for new or prospective Clinical Faculty members, but is open to all who are interested. This mini course will focus on the philosophy and definitions of critical thinking and creating an environment and developing strategies for promoting critical thinking in the classroom. Participants will work on developmentally appropriate methods for modeling thinking, questioning strategies, problem-solving, metacognition, listening skills, and classroom interaction. Participants will be encouraged to examine their own lessons and units to infuse critical thinking throughout the curriculum, especially with a focus on hybrid and remote learning. This course fulfills the MSUNER requirement for Teaching for Critical Thinking. Limit 20 participants.
NOTE: This course will be conducted 100% online through the Canvas Learning Management System. This course will involve independent work as well as some writing and will take place over a two week period totaling approx. six hours of work. There will be small assignments that need to be submitted each week. All assignments must be completed to get PD credit for the course.
