Event Description

TITLE: Playhouse: Practicing Progressive Socially Just Early Child Teaching in Partnership with Families

DATES: May 2, 2018

LOCATION: Montclair State University, University Hall-ADP Center, Room 1145

TIME: 9:00 AM-3:00 PM

INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Monica Taylor

In this session we will explore the pillars of Playhouse, the progressive and socially just tenets of this parent cooperative preschool. The history and philosophical background of the school will create a context to examine what teaching and learning could be like if it were child-centered and focused on problem-posing, committed to promoting compassion and acceptance of all students, intent on bridging the school and families, and engaged in fostering a positive self-concept of children through positive discipline.
