Event Description

The College of Education and Human Services at Montclair State University presents the third annual Social Justice Film Series: IRON LADIES OF LIBERIA

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 3
5:30 – 7:30 PM
UNIVERSITY HALL – CONFERENCE CENTER, 7TH FLOOR
Montclair State University

After 14 years of a brutal civil war, Liberia elects its first female president—Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, nicknamed the Iron Lady. With her predominately female cabinet, President Johnson Sirleaf struggles during her first year in office to rebuild a war-ravaged country, fight rampant corruption and prevent a descent back into war.

She's a Harvard-educated grandmother of eight, has served time in jail for her political beliefs, is a former employee of the World Bank and the first elected female president in an African country.
FOLLOWED BY A DISCUSSION WITH MULTIPLE AWARD-WINNING FILMMAKER JONATHAN STACK

The event is free and open to the community. Parking is available in the Red Hawk Deck for a nominal fee.
