Event Description

TITLE: ONLINE WORKSHOP: Emotional Intelligence ~ Effectiveness that Feels Right
DATE: April 9th & 16th, 2020
TIME: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Sandra Lewis, Professor, Department of Psychology, College of Humanities and Social Sciences
LOCATION: Zoom (ONLINE)

Emotions are sometimes treated like an unwanted inconvenience. Phrases like, “Don’t get emotional”, Work is no place for your feelings” or “Be reasonable” suggest that our feelings are best left behind closed doors, at funerals, or maybe on the dance floor when we’re moving to a great song.

But what if our emotions are one of our greatest resources? Suppose they’re really as superpower that fosters our development as team players and leaders, inspires our creativity and passion for our work, and cultivates our ability to monitor our needs and maximize our effectiveness. Can you imagine what you could create with this power? Can you see yourself navigating through stress, more at ease, more fulfilled?

In this workshop, we’ll get up close and personal with emotional intelligence, our ability to sense and monitor our emotions, apply them for problem-solving and decision-making and use them to connect with others. We’ll explore what it looks like in everyday practice and how it can increase our personal and professional effectiveness. Participants will walk away with simple practices that they can incorporate into their day-to-day life.

Bring your feelings. You’ll need them. Let them show you just how smart you are at creating effectiveness that feels right for you.
