Event Description

Using African Dance for Grades 2-12
Instructor: Karen Love, Director of Umoja Dance Company and Director of the Dance Department at Hillside HS

In this two-hour mini course, participants will be introduced to the movement, history, and culture of African Dance accompanied by live drummers. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to dance. The movement class will be followed by a brief discussion of extensions of African dance into contemporary work with emphasis on Ms. Love’s own choreography.
