I am a Clinical Faculty Member interested in sharing my experience as a world language teacher for 22 years and my findings as a trainer of teachers in methods and strategies for a communicative approach to language instruction, via comprehensible input.
I also want to share practices for a pedagogy that integrates the whole human being. The collective trauma created by the COVID pandemic has altered our minds as well as our senses and perceptions. A Healing-Centered Education Paradigm invites us to integrate the resources and concepts from Restorative Justice, Social Emotional and Ethical Learning, Trauma Informed Education, and the healing elements from Reiki, yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and heartfullness.
The well-being of the teachers reflects in their classrooms environment. Let’s continue the transformation by consciously embracing self caring practices, self compassion, and self healing hence we -the teachers- bring healing, compassion, and true love for our students.
